Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that principally attacks the joints, producing an inflammatory synovitis that often progresses to destruction of the articular cartilage and ankylosis of the joints.

Aginko Research performs contract studies in established mouse and rat models of rheumatoid arthritis to test the efficacy of novel compounds.

Animal Models

  • Collagen-Induced Arthritis (CIA) in Rat
  • Collagen-Induced Arthritis (CIA) in Mice
  • Collagen Antibody-Induced Arthritis (CAIA) in Mice
  • Adjuvant Arthritis
  • Genetically manipulated or spontaneous arthritis models (i.e. TNF-alpha transgenic mouse, K/BxN mouse)

Readouts generally include arthritis score, paw thickness, body weight. In option, Biomarkers (protein, mRNA), cell populations by FACS, histology and immunohistochemistry, pharmacokinetics and pain assessment can be performed.
